General information:
This massive palace is located at a ancient city of Crete. The palace of Knossos was undoubtedly the cermonial and political centre of the Minoan civilization and culture. It appears as a maze of workrooms, living spaces, and storerooms close to a central square. For some unknown reason the palace was abandoned as some unknown time at the end of the Late Bronze Age. When first discovered by its initial discoverer, he thought it to be the location of the labyrinth. A location of ancient Greek myths where the fabled Minotaur lives.
Why This Artwork?
This artwork was central to the Minoan civilization and gaining a glimpse into the past and discovering what the time was like. During its time, it was central to the Minoan people for both political and ceremonial means. As such there was much evidence left behind for us to discover and interpret.
