General Information:
This painting is by the Limbourg Brothers, artists who expanded the illustration capabilities of manuscript painting with their special care for shadows and detail. This, along with other paintings were painted in a manuscript called Tres Riches Heures. The paintings were strongly influenced by Italian art. The manuscript is a total of 206 vellum pages. The function of the book consists of a number of prayers and readings, intended for religious use. The book contains a calender at the beginning, with each month to go along with a painting, and a dial of the months at the top, like this one.
