Saint-Sernin is a large cathedral in Europe that honors the first bishop of Toulouse, Sernin, who was martyred on the cathedrals location. This cathedral is the Largest Romanesque cathedral in Europe, and is adorned with many features of the Romanesque period. Art historians particularly note this cathedral for the quality and quantity of its Romanesque sculpture, which are found all around the cathedral. This particular cathedral contained a great quantity of relics, making it an important stop for pilgrims. The size of the church might even point to the want to accommodate a large number of pilgrims, attempting to get them to come there.
