General Information:
The Cologne Cathedral is the largest church in northern Europe, and took more than 600 years to build. One end dates to the 13th century, and the other the 19th. This massive cathedral is a prime example for the Gothic architects quest for height and light in their building projects. The nave of the entire Cathedral is 422 feet, and the choir is 150 feet high. The architects designed this cathedral so stable, that despite massive amounts of bombing in the city of Cologne during WWII the only damage was the blown out stained glass.
