This statue is very uncommon for its time period. During this time period people considered statues worshiping of graven images, which they are commanded not to do, so they don't have many sculpture of Christ or of anything else in this time. this is what makes this sculpture rare and valuable. Christ is represented in the fashion of a philosopher, holding scrolls and in a position that makes it seem as if he were teaching. Christ is not represented as otherworldly or all powerful, but rather humbly and meekly. Something that is very different from the later images of him.

This artwork was mainly chosen to show a difference in how Christ is represented then, to what he was represented later in the Christian history. Also due to the rarity of the sculpture, it could be seen that the making of these form of sculptures was considered to not be acceptable, something that changed later in christian history.
