General Information:
This large tapestry is one of the best preserved historical artworks from the period. It is one of the best works of art that represents Norman Romanesque. The entire cloth depicts William the Conquerors achievement of conquering all of the England under one rule. The entire cloth is about 70 meters long, all of it depicting contemporaneous events in full detail. The entire work depicts even the events surrounding the reason for the conflict, which is the death of Anglo-Saxon king of England, and the Normans belief that the crown would go to William. However the crown did not go to William and instead went to Harold, resulting in a conflict in which William crushed Harold's forces.
